Toys & Chews
Nylabones - Any dog who likes to chew could appreciate the stress relief a Nylabone provides. They come in many shapes, sizes, textures and densities for different types of chewers. Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Yorkshire Terrier, Poodles, Rotten Rotties are just a few breeds that really take to them, and there are of course exceptions to every breed. Some dogs who don't like to work for their food, or chew on much of anything look at you funny when you hand them this almost tasteless odorless object. The Wishbone, Wolf Bone and Galileo are the most popular types.
Raw Meaty Bones - Some dogs benefit from a nice meaty chew, but for some dogs not used to raw foods it causes them to have the Hershey Squirts at first. DO NOT COOK. Start off slowly and let them try it for no longer than 15 minutes, but be sure your dog does not have food guarding issues before giving them such a high value treat. Select knuckle bones with meat and gristle to chew on. The bone is also thinner and crumbly which they can chew off crumbles, instead of cracking the hard shank bones. This is especially important if you have a power chewer. If you hear chunks being crunched, your dog is at risk of breaking their molars or gulping bone shards. Rotties, Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Beagles, Shelties and Labs love to chew hard. If you are feeding raw bones, educate yourself on all the risks and be prepared for the expenses.
Treat Balls - There is a treat toy for every dog. Check out my treat ball video of a few dogs using the holee molee. The Buster Cube is for extremely persistent/intelligent dogs, and it's great for stuffing full of their kibble instead of using their bowl. It challenges their mind and moves their body.
Crates
Almost every dog would love their own private space that a crate provides. Crates helps speed up the house training process while protecting your pup from eating or destroying your possessions. Read my article on crates here.
