Walk This Way
  • Walks should be a part of your dogs daily routine for mental and physical wellness. A quick 15-30 minute walk around the block before they eat breakfast is one of the best things you can do for your dog, and who really doesn't have 15 minutes to spend with their dog.
  • Walk at a brisk pace so they don't get distracted.
  • You take your dog for a walk, don't let them walk you.
  • Your dog will walk past any distraction if you have properly indicated that is what you would like them to do.
  • Your dog should be at your side for the first half of the walk, and when they have earned the right to sniff or go off leash, that will be your decision because you are in control.
  • The leash is an extension of you and your hand, never let them put their teeth on it because it is very disrespectful.
  • A leash is not a tool to keep your dog in position, teach them how to walk on a loose leash so eventually they can have off leash privileges.
